SEO is about providing value, not tricking search engines into ranking you higher. Thin content tells a search engine that your sitepage doesn’t have much to offer. As a result, those sitepages are ranked poorly in the search results. Sparse content is mostly characterized by a poor content (text) to code ratio. The common rule of thumb dictates that the amount of text on a website should not be less than 25 percent. When you have submitted your website to all the major search engines, you may be thinking, what is the difference between the website that appears at the top of the page and the ones that appear 20 pages down the list? Of course, you’ll be also thinking how you can get your website towards the top end of this long list. When building your content, it’s important to remember to give the crawlers enough to bite into.
