The Internet is all about trends — what works phenomenally well to improve SEO one year, might fall flat the next. SEO isn’t a one-and-done type deal. It requires constant updating, tweaking, experimenting and testing. And with SEO being one of the highest returning investments you’ll make for your website, you’ll want to constantly measure its success to maintain powerful results. If everyone’s mobile device had a screen size and the power of a desktop computer, then there would not be much of an issue. However, this is clearly not the case. While smartphones are getting larger, their tiny screen simply can’t correctly render a website laid out for a computer screen. The text is simply too small and the buttons aren’t in the correct position. Adjusting your keyword distribution gives you power to change your campaign over time. To be sure, stealing and republishing someone else’s content without their permission is a terrible practice, and doing this frequently is an obvious sign of a spammy, low-quality website.

Dumb Mistakes That'll Wreck Your Meta Descriptions

Keyword stuffing, hiding keywords in a very small font or a color that blends with the background, and paying for incoming links are all tactics that Google considers to be spam, and your website’s search traffic will be negatively affected if you’re caught doing any of them. Text without headings is terrible to read. Headings and subheadings are the most important anchor points a reader has in the text. People tend to read those more carefully and use headings to determine what a text is about. Optimizing for search engines and creating keyword-targeted content helps a site rank for key search terms, which typically leads to direct traffic and referring links as more and more people find, use, and enjoy what you’ve produced. If you focus on providing the best content possible for the search keywords you want to rank for, then you will rank. This means great content with articles which have a minimum of 500 words which provide answers relevant to the search query.

Focus on the outcome.

The two biggest algorithm changes that Google released to ward off the abuse of link building included the Panda and Penguin updates, which came out in 2011 and 2012, respectively (and received regular updates ever since). One cracked down on websites with poor quality content and the other penalized websites conducting spammy link building efforts. Trends adjusts search data to make comparisons between terms easier. Each data point is divided by the total searches of the geography and time range it represents, to compare relative popularity. There is no minimum amount of words or text to rank in Google. Write good content that people not only want to read, but that they will comment on and share via social media. Share your content on your company’s social media channels and other online properties. Get creative and repurpose your content into different formats like videos, slide presentations, etc.

Create the structure for your post

The primary goals of most SEO practitioners are to increase rank in the SERP and drive traffic, but they are not going far enough. As a general rule of thumb the more words in the query the easier it is to rank for that phrase. This is certainly not an absolute but has been the case for a majority of the terms I have worked with. *If you know of examples where this theory does not hold up, please share in the comments. Every Search Engines use different complex mathematical algorithms for generating Search Results. Different Search Engines perceive different elements of a web page including page title, content, meta description and then come up with their results to rank on. Each Search Engine’s algorithm are different, so if you rank on Google does not definitely mean that you will rank on Google. Gaz Hall, an SEO Expert from the UK, said: "Your website should be thematically oriented to specific keywords for optimal rankings. The website should fulfill the needs of your users. At the same time, it is also important for your web content to load quickly in order to guarantee user satisfaction."

Revise your old content and update it

There are many places across the web where you can build links through submissions, whether it’s submitting your site, a piece of content, or anything else. The sheer apparent complexity of SEO is enough to turn some people away entirely. Target 500 to 1,000 words per post without sounding spammy or repetitive. Trust me — 500 words is not difficult when you know your business inside and out. I am already at 1,500 words for this post (unless my editor breaks out a Ginsu knife). Also, publish frequently. Try one post per week until you get the hang of writing and blogging. Then bump that up to twice per week. You should not only use social networks to acquire potential new customers, generate leads and build brand awareness, but also keep in mind the SEO benefits of having a brand presence on social networks.
