Dealing with a Google algorithm change like the page layout update can feel like falling into an abyss of constant web design changes over and over again. When website copy contains a wider variety of terms and keywords all relative to the same topic, it appears more natural, resulting in higher rankings. The content flows naturally, more like a conversation you might have with someone. There are plenty of rabbit holes to fall into when it comes to Google algorithm updates. In a Searchmetrics 2016 study into ranking factors, there was an “extremely high” correlation between social signals and Google rankings. However, this couldn’t be accredited to the algorithm, but rather to the “overlap between brand websites performing strongly in social networks and being allocated top positions by Google.”
If I stop doing SEO will my rankings drop?
No website in a competitive market gets valuable traffic from Google in 2017 without a lot of work, technical work and content curation. The ability for a
piece of content to earn natural links that positively contribute to a website’s link graph is directly proportional to that contents value. In other words, the more valuable the piece of content is, the easier it will be to earn high-value links and increase Google traffic. Conversely, the less valuable a piece of content is, the harder it will be to earn links. In the past, commenting on blogs and forums solely for the sake of building links was the norm. The reality, however, is that many blogs and forums have little or no link value. Therefore, building links via this method will do nothing to boosting your website’s ranking. If an SEO tactic worked for one website that does not mean the same can be successfully applied to another.
Project the right image
Search engines often reward you for updating old content. But remember, you only get a reward for actually making the content more relevant! You don't necessarily need
a large social media presence, just an active one. The more you engage with the local community by responding to comments and questions, the more your Facebook, Google+, Twitter and other social profiles are likely to appear in local searches. Use sub-directories rather than sub-domains when possible. Sub-domains do not share link love from the main domain as it is treated as a different domain. When it comes to Search Engine Optimization, the content will play a huge role in your rankings. As they say, “Content is King, Link Building is Queen”. Remember, all the hard work you do in building up your links will be for naught if your content is garbage.
Use Heading Tags (H Tags) To Get More Traffic
Undoubtedly, mobile SEO is distinct from its desktop counterpart in significant – sometimes very subtle – ways. As mobile usage continues to grow, user behaviors and expectations change too. Simply resizing the desktop site for a smaller screen won’t do. Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is an integral part of any digital marketing strategy. It is a crucial element in organically driving customers to your businesses via online platforms. In other words, it's modern day marketing! Links pointing to your site help Google discover new pages on your site. It also, traditionally, is regarded as a signal of popularity. The site linking to your content is essentially telling Google they trust your content. According to SEO Consultant
, Gaz Hall: "Choosing a perfect focus keyword is not an exact science. You should aim for a combination of words that are used by a search audience. Aim for a focus keyword that is relatively high on volume and aim for one that will fit your audience."
Keep your site updated and full of very useful content
Search engines have been tailored to predict the intent of customers, which explains why some searches have features such as local 3-packs, featured images or videos and Quick Answers. Understanding the intent behind searches allows marketers to create content messages and formats that will most likely appeal to customers. Gone are the days
when you have to mention exact keyword phrases a specific number of times at a certain frequency. The type of content you use on a page also matters for indexing. For example, images are indexed differently from text. It is customary to ensure that meaningful images are assigned descriptive “ALT=” text and helpful captions. Image galleries can be challenging, especially when the image owners (often artists or photographers) are reluctant to publish high quality images or visible text on a page. The higher quality your content, the more beneficial your shared information, and the better your reputation increases the chances that you will be mentioned throughout a variety of platforms.
