A common tactic is creating dozens, if not hundreds of short backlink-containing articles, which are then placed in blogs and websites that have been created for the express purpose of SEO. SEO today is increasingly driven by natural language search, that is, people doing searches that are more like normal questions than two or three keywords. Links aren’t the only factor of importance; you also need to make sure your on-page SEO is up to scratch and that your keyword targeting is on-point. A smart keyword strategy tackles only enough keywords to be supported with a robust, multifaceted on-site and off-site campaign. Trying to be jack of all keyword phrases will make you master of none.

Remove unnecessary outbound links

You can signal relevancy of your content to search engines by using keywords for your image file name, alt tag, title, description and caption. Because the number of links pointing to your website substantially impacts your SEO rankings (the more high-quality links you have, the better), link building is one of the best SEO tactics. An effective link building strategy involves providing guest post content and infographics to other websites. If you aren’t seeing a positive ROI after a month or two, try changing tactics and/or improve your methods until you start seeing positive momentum. Google likes to pretend that great content, and great websites, will naturally acquire links. But for 99.999% of businesses, that’s terrible advice.

One single domain is enough

Search engine crawlers and indexing programs are basically software programs. These programs are extraordinarily powerful. They crawl hundreds of billions of web pages, analyze the content of all these pages, and analyze the way all these pages link to each other. Most marketers focusing on SEO break down SEO into onpage efforts and off-page efforts. And when focusing on off-page efforts, a common SEO mistake marketers make is believing that their site will receive more SEO traffic if only they can find enough websites to build links on. In Google search results, you only have space for 70 characters in your title. If your title is longer than that, it gets truncated (meaning the end will be “….”). (Previous estimates put this number at 50 to 60 characters, but Google recently expanded the width of the search results, and therefore can show slightly longer titles.) Page copy should be informative and of interest to you readers. Don’t write it just for the robots, write for the humans that will be visiting. Yes you need to include keywords here but only if they make sense. Once again, do not keyword stuff your copy, you’ll only get yourself penalised.

Get some paid social media promotion

As I mentioned, SEO is a long-term strategy. You won’t see results in the first week, and probably not even in the first month. A so-called website blocker is something that prevents search engines from accessing the site Like desktop content, mobile pages need to load fast. Slow loading pages rank lower in Google results. Google has a handy tool called PageSpeed Insights that will tell you how fast your pages are on both mobile and desktop browsers. Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "Mobile devices have obviously exploded and Google has emphasized the optimizing websites for mobile users. By 2015 mobile search queries surpassed desktop ones – a seismic event in the evolution of search that can not be overstated in terms of significance. Optimizing for mobile devices is now nothing less than required. Its mobile-friendly ranking update came in two significant roll outs to date."

Easy to read and digest

As you know, back in the day we could build 10,000 forum profile links with exact match anchor text and rank in a few days. Unfortunately many SEOs have not changed their game to keep up with Google changes. Now 80% of your links should be brand/URL links, 10% KW links, and the other 10% long tail/nonsense KWs. Also, if you're just starting out, build less than 50 links a day. Links aren’t just for navigation; they are also a tool for guiding potential customers through the marketing funnel.
